UNIVERSITI Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through its Student Affairs Section (HEP), held its eighth Kurapak Kitani session at the UNISSA Auditorium on January 20.
The programme, a collaboration with the Student Representative Council (MPP), aimed to open the minds of the students through lectures and sharing sessions by guest speakers from both within and outside the country. It also aimed to increase the students’ knowledge and understanding of selected fields of knowledge and current issues.
The session attended by the university’s first and second year students began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Muhammad Rif’at ‘Atiyah bin Haji Anwari, Vice-President 1 of UNISSA Student Representative Council.
The lecture, presented by Adjunct Professor of the Centre for Islamic Development Management of UNISSA Professor Dr Muhammad Syukri Salleh, was titled ‘Bicara Pakar’ (expert talk), while the sharing session was called ‘Knowledge-Dichotomy Practice’.
Among the key takeaways from the lecture and sharing session was that many of the scientists in ancient times found it hard to attain knowledge, yet ironically they could easily put such knowledge into practical use.
On the contrary in today’s world, it would seem to be easy to find knowledge but hard to practise it. It was therefore impressed upon the students that they should absorb the knowledge from their lessons properly and not take it for granted.
