PREPARATIONS are underway to transform the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas into a shopper’s paradise as the popular Consumer Fair (CF20), now in its 20th instalment, opens to the public today.

Over 400 booths and 200 local and international exhibitors including from Asean member states will showcase a variety of products and services at the five-day fair from January 24 – 28.

The biannual event, organised by D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd, will be divided into eight ‘coloured-coded’ zones that promised to bring back exciting activities for the enjoyment of all ages under the theme ‘Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Present, and Envisioning the Future’.

A 90s-inspired vintage shop will relive childhood’s memories with retro gaming and toys, including the once-addictive Tamagotchi toy.

A new addition to CF20 is the collaboration between D’Sunlit and several local mural artists from ARTTRALIA together with a first-of-its-kind Neon Gallery known as ‘After Glow’.

For wildlife lovers, stop over at the ‘Missing Endangered Campaign’, where over 2,000 mini ceramic elephant figurines will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to World Wide Fun (WWF) Malaysia.

The national carrier, Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) is making a significant presence in the CF20 by visitor exclusive discounted fares on selected destination as well as long-haul air tickets to be won for the grand draw.

CF20 will not be complete without an eating competition hosted by Olive Tree Corporation and Hui Huang Enterprise, while DST and Starbucks will be organising special promotions and free giveaways during the fair.

Meanwhile, AEC Sdn Bhd and Cuckoo International (B) Sdn Bhd will conduct their own lucky draws, with flight tickets to South Korea and a brand-new Toyota Vios as grand prizes.

First time exhibitor, Syazni of Filterworks Production, told the Bulletin that CF20 is an ideal platform for the young production house to showcase their works and talents to a wider market.

Filterworks Production is popular for producing the local series ‘The Bungsu Story’. He added that participating in the consumer fair is essential to business growth as the event is a great opportunity to meet new customers and collaborators.

“It will give more publicity for the upcoming series and hope to seal better business opportunities with more collaboration for future projects,” he added.

The CF20 will run from January 24-28 at the ICC from 10am to 10pm daily, except on Friday, where it will be temporarily closed from noon to 2pm for prayers. Free shuttle buses will ferry visitors from the Indoor Stadium to the venue. Admission is free.
