Kg Batu Marang Mosque Youth emerge Zain Cup winners

AL-MARWA Kg Batu Marang Mosque Youth emerged winners of the Zain Cup after edging Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Wakeel Mosque Youth 2-1 in the final at the Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School (SMALHB) yesterday.

Ministry of Religious Affairs Administration Department emerged winners of the Director Cup after edging Department of Mosque Affairs 2-1 in the final.

Kg Lumapas Mosque settled for third place in the Zain Cup while the Department of Islamic Studies Administration Section took third in the Director Cup.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the youth generation represents a treasure and the nation’s hope.

Towards this, the Department of Mosque Affairs with the cooperation of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah has made efforts in creating mosque youths as a group who are creative and innovative as well as proactive in moving towards excellence and glory in all aspects in organising the football tournament Zain Cup for mosque youths nationwide.

The youths spent the night at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah prior to the competition, where religious programmes were conducted including mass Maghrib, Isyak and Subuh prayers, a motivational lecture and a dawn lecture.

The objective of the Zain Cup was to foster closer ties among mosque youths nationwide and guide them to carry out healthy and recreational activities in accordance with rules required by Islam.

Meanwhile, the final of the Mosque Affairs Director Cup for mosque officers and members of the mosque takmir committee nationwide was also held.

The objectives of the competition included to help attract interest of mosque takmir committee members to take part in recreational activities, fostering closer ties through football, actively taking part in sports in realising a healthy community and being able to share thoughts among the mosque takmir committee members.

The guest of honour was Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, who presented the prizes.

Also present at the event were directors, assistant directors, officers and staff from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
