ECO Ponies Garden, in collaboration with lnTurn and The Creative Core BN, recently hosted its Samarangi Village Run – the first such event held by the farmstay – in Lamunin, Tutong.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism officiated the launching of the event.
The village run was a two-part event based on the concept of ‘The Amazing Race’, with the course beginning at Eco Ponies Garden and involving obstacles at several villages in the Tutong District, before ending with a cooking challenge named the ‘MasterChef’.
Featuring eight participating teams, the Samarangi Village Run aimed to showcase the Tutong District through a gastronomic journey around the district, with team members collecting ingredients found in various areas to create popular local dishes.
Each team’s culinary creations were assessed by guest judges, among whom included Chef Rezal, a member of the Indonesian Chef Association.
Eco Ponies Garden also hosted a village market which offered fresh local produce unique to Tutong.
The market also featured arts and handicrafts workshops and musical performances by local modern and traditional musicians.
Some of the musicians included local artistes Tropical Hornbills, Raudhah and Faddie Tokching, a sape player, while the arts and crafts workshops were hosted by Pupu.shi, Zarabesque Art, and Kaleidoscope.
Artworks were sold by Artistryalley, Miqdame and Clazelexclusive.
The Samarangi Village Run was supported by Progresif as strategic partners, and One Village One Product, with endorsement from the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism as well as the Ministry of Home Affairs.
