THE Takmir and Muslimah of Pekan Seria Mosque yesterday held a Tausyeh competition for youths from across the Belait District.
The competition – held in conjunction with the National Day celebrations – was part of an ongoing effort to help promote Tausyeh-reading among youths, and to raise their confidence in performing for an audience.
Mukim Seria Penghulu cum guest of honour Jamail bin Linap was welcomed by Pekan Seria Mosque Imam cum competition chairman Haji Aminorddin bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
Ten teams competed in the event at the Pekan Seria Mosque. The teams were judged based on their song, pronunciation, and voice.
The five teams competing in the male category comprised Syababul Mumtaz from Zainab Mosque – which performed ‘Fayasohah’; Firqah Daarul Muaqaamah from the Al-Mashhor Mosque which performed ‘Hayyul Hadi’; Firqatul Wasim Jiddan from Pekan Seria Mosque which performed ‘Solatun Bissalam’; ‘Ikhwan’ from STKRJ Lorong Tiga Seria Mosque which performed ‘Nurul Huda Wafana’; and Anuril Anwar from Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque which performed ‘Sifat 20’.
The five female teams comprised Najimatul Munawwarah from Zainab Mosque performing ‘Fayasohah’; Firqatul Ulfah Iklilah from Pekan Seria Mosque which performed ‘Subhanallah’; Al-Jawahirul Munawwir from Zainab Mosque which performed ‘Ya Badrotim’; Al-Munaajah from STKRJ Lorong Tiga Seria Mosque which performed ‘Busyraa Lana’; and Firqah Ainul Mardhiyah from Al-Mashhor Mosque which performed ‘Solawat Badriyah.’
The male category saw team Syababul Mumtaz taking first place, followed by teams Firqatul Wasim Jiddan and Anuril Anwar, while the female category saw team Firqatul Ulfah Iklilah in first place, followed by teams Al-Jawahirul Munawwir and Al-Munaajah.
The best performance title was won by Firqatul Wasim Jiddan (male category) and Al-Jawahirul Munawwir (female category).
The winning teams received their prizes from the guest of honour.
