FIVE local youths left the country yesterday to take part in the International Youth Educational and Cultural Festival (IYECF) 2018 being held from April 11 – 13 in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia.
The Brunei delegation comprising youth leader and head of delegation Mohd Yussof bin Yaakub, Nurfarahiyah binti Yahya, Nurfarahin Suhada binti Haji Sahri, Norazmi bin Mohamad and Maisarah binti Haji Rosli will promote Bruneian culture and build friendships.
They will perform a traditional dance programme as part of the event. The performance is a dance medley which will include traditional dances such as ‘tarian tipa’, ‘jipin lela sembah’ and ‘joget bunga simpur’.
The participants will also attend a Peace, Development, Education, Culture and Diversity forum which will focus on educational and cultural cooperation for the promotion of peace and sustainable development.
The main goal of the event is to embrace the spirit of the Asean Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC). The festival, with its theme ‘From Education and Cultural Diversity to Peace and Development’, also provides youths the opportunity to create closer people-to- people contact.
