TO MARK Israk Mikraj, one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar, mass Subuh prayers were held in mosques, suraus and religious halls across the country yesterday, by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
In the Brunei-Muara District, the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah provided the main focal point, where Cabinet Ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, senior officers, civil servants and personnel from higher learning institutions attended mass Subuh prayer led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz.
A Tazkirah titled, ‘Sembahyang Berjemaah Meraih Berkat’ (The Virtues of Praying in Congregation), was then presented by Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, the Deputy Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).

Setia Ali Mosque, Pekan Muara| Fizah HAB | THE Department of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday hosted mass Subuh prayers at mosques, suraus and religious halls across the country to commemorate the Israk Mikraj celebration. Present as the guest of honour at the Setia Ali Mosque in Pekan Muara was Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof. Also present were Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), services and joint force commanders, senior officers, officers, other ranks of the RBAF as well as civilian staff of the Ministry of Defence. The event began with the Subuh prayer led by Ustaz Haji Mohd Ali Sabri bin Haji Yusof, a lecturer at the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, followed by a religious talk on the benefits of congregational worship by Ustaz Muskarisman Safari bin Haji Mustapha, from the Islamic Da’wah Centre. A mass recitation of Surah Al-Kahf was led by Ustaz Haji Mohd Ali Sabri, and the event concluded with the Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Brunei Darussalam, recited by Mosque Affairs Officer of Setia Ali Mosque, Nasehin bin Yahya. |
Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque, Kg Sengkurong| Rokiah Mahmud | IN CONJUNCTION with the Israk Mikraj celebrations, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud attended the mass Subuh prayers at the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong yesterday. The ceremony began with a mass Subuh prayer led by Muhammad Najib bin Haji Aliakbar from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, followed with a Tazkirah delivered by Ustaz Haji Yusof bin Haji Abdul Majid on the benefits of congregational worship. The ceremony concluded with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Kahf, led by Haji Mohd Zaidin bin Haji Mohd Noor, Mosque Affairs Officer of Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque. |
