A TOTAL of 13 orphans registered under the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA) who have achieved excellent results in their public examinations in 2015, received an incentive award AIPC-DANA.
The public examinations included the Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level, Brunei Religious Education Certificate (SPUB), Brunei Religious Primary School Certificate (SSRU) and Primary School Assessment (PSR).
The award ceremony was held at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in Bandar Seri Begawan.
In his speech, the Chief Executive Officer of DANA, Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail, explained that since DANA was established 18 years ago, they have received overwhelming support from members of the public.
“The generous contribution and donations continuously received by DANA have enabled the secretariat to coordinate several schemes and projects for the purpose of assisting the welfare of the orphans registered under DANA,” he explained
“Since the end of April 2016, there are a total of 2,936 orphans registered under DANA,” he added.

Present as the guest of honour to present the awards was Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education in his capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Trustee for DANA.
For Brunei Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level, AIPC-DANA was awarded to Cavel Sim Kah Seng, Dayang Kartini binti Haji Hassan and Mel Ke Ling. Each of the awardees received certificate of appreciation, one laptop and printer, and cash worth $760 to buy study necessities for two years.
As for AIPC-DANA for PSR was awarded to Awangku Muhammad Hazim Wajihuddin bin Pengiran Muhammad Sallehin, Ampuan Hajib Mirza bin Ampuan Haji Mohammad, Sykirah binti Abdullah Aiman Kollane, Nurul Fitri Sofia binti Haji Rosli and Ummi Fasihah binti Haji Talipuddin.
Each of the students received certificate of appreciation, one laptop and printer, and study necessities for two years worth $400.
For AIPC-DANA for SSSRU, the recipients were Muhammad Fikri bin Haji Masri, Siti Fatimah binti Oooy Abdul Rojak, Nur Syahidah binti Abdullah Abdul Rashid @ Nur Ameerah, Nurul E’zatul Syafiqah binti Abdullah Mohammad Noor Iswaddy and Sonia binti Abdullah Jamaris.
Each of them received certificate of appreciation, a laptop and printer and cash saving of $500 which were credited to their respective DANA accounts on TAIB.
The incentive awards were presented for the 9th time with the aim of encouraging and motivating the orphans to appreciate the importance of education and to raise their spirits to continuously strive for their best in attaining success especially in their studies.
In an interview, Cavel Sim Kah Seng, who successfully recorded 9 ‘O’ levels shared his happiness with the Bulletin. He said that the incentive that he received from DANA would further increase his spirit in achieving more success in his future undertakings.
Cavel who currently continues his ‘A’ level at Sayyidina Ali Secondary School hopes he could further his studies in medical science.
He explained that, the laptop given would further assist in his studies as the ‘A’ Level requires him to do more research work.
Awangku Muhammad Hazim Wajihuddin, who scored 5 ‘A’s during his PSR Examination, is currently pursuing his secondary years at the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College. With such encouragement and support he hopes to excel in his future studies.
