THE SMS Brunei Prihatin was officiated yesterday at Digadong Hall of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) as an effort to provide a convenient way for the public to donate to the National Orphans Fund. Officiated by Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, the donation campaign will run until June 18, 2018.
The public can send an SMS with the word YATIM followed by the amount they wish to donate – BND1, BND5, BND10, BND15 or BND20 (without spaces) – to 38111 (for DST and Progresif Cellular users). For example, to make a BND20 donation, the text should read YATIM20.
SMS Brunei Prihatin an annual project co-organised by the Community Development Department (JAPEM), Radio Television Brunei (RTB), DST and Progresif Cellular, has received encouraging response from the public since its introduction in 2005.
Also in attendance were Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Suria Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir, Acting Director of JAPEM, Md Zulkarnain bin Haji Ibrahim, Acting Special Duties Officer of RTB; Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni, Assistant General Manager of Group Corporate Communications as the representative of DST; Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Jaafar, Head Administrative Officer and representative for Board of Directors of Progresif; head of departments and directors at the MCYS; senior officials from RTB, JAPEM, DST and Progresif.
