THE Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) presented Zakat funds to 27 underprivileged families in Sungai Mau, Bukit Sawat, Kuala Belait during a ceremony at Al-Mashor Kampong Sungai Mau Mosque yesterday.
The guest of honour Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and member of MUIB Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof distributed donations amounting to BND7,540 among the recipients.
Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Liang YB Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, and Acting Belait District Officer Zamri bin Haji Junaidi were also present.
A Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony was also held in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour followed by the reading of Al-Quran by Abdul Qayyum bin Haji Aminuddin and the Tedarus Al-Quran by Dr Ustaz Haji Ismuhadi bin Abdullah, a lecturer from the Islamic Da’wah Centre at the MoRA.
The reading of Tahlil and Doa Arwah was led by Imam Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Abas.
The ceremony concluded with the reading of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam led by Haji Haslan bin Haji Shahbudin.
