FAST food chain Burger King Brunei, in keeping with its commitment towards supporting social causes, joined hands with Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei in support of children with autism this Ramadhan.
Under the management of Sinofood Express, 10 representatives from Burger King Brunei visited the SMARTER EDGE Centre in Kampong Mata-Mata to donate food and a cheque yesterday.
President of SMARTER Brunei Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman received the BND2,000 mock cheque.
Sinofood Express introduced a corporate social responsibility programme in 2015, with the installation of donation boxes at every outlet.
The funds were handed over to three non-profit organisations – SMARTER Brunei, Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam and the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA).
For every BND1 donated by Burger King’s customers, Sinofood Express matched the contributions with the collection fund. As a result, BND6,000 was raised, with donations of BND2,000 handed over to each charity organisation.
The delegation from Burger King Brunei also distributed 100 goodie bags, which include food and toys, to SMARTER children.
