THE Radio Brunei Services of Radio Television Brunei (RTB) launched its 10th Jalinan Kasih project once again in the holy month of Ramadhan at the Al Ansar Studio of RTB yesterday.

RTB Director Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu launched the project which aims to get closer with the community at various levels.

The event began with a welcoming speech by the RTB Director who said the project began in 2009 and that this was the 10th instalment to be carried out by the Radio Brunei Services as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) in conjunction with Ramadhan.

The project is also borne out of the care and compassion towards those in need as well as for family members of RTB officers and staff members who have passed away.

Among those in need, said the director, are orphans, the elderly, special needs individuals, new converts and those who are less fortunate.

He said, “This effort is also in line with the department’s hopes to socialise the Radio Brunei Services and support the government in creating a community that is loving, caring and compassionate towards those that are less fortunate and in need of help.”

Haji Muhammad Suffian also highlighted the project’s success in getting close cooperation from agencies that participated in the initiative, as well as RTB officers and staff who contributed.

Much like the previous years, the project will see presentation of donations to individuals that are in need in all four districts.

The director added that the project will also see a breaking of fast ceremony for identified groups.

The event was further enlivened with a Tazkirah (religious lecture) by Ustaz Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, co-founder of the Al-Minhaaj Centre Brunei Darussalam, who spoke about the good that comes out of every test and obstacle experienced by an individual, as well as the advantages of charity and the role of the community in caring for the less fortunate.

The event continued with the certificate presentation to local companies that participated in the project, along with a donation handover in the form of daily necessities to selected individuals.

According to the Jalinan Kasih Production Team, they will head to all four districts to visit and distribute donations to identified individuals over the next few days.
