AN EXHIBITION featuring 50 art pieces by students of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam was launched at Mabohai Shopping Centre yesterday.
Former Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah launched ‘The Special Hands: Empowering Abilities’ week-long exhibition showcasing the creations of students of all ages guided and trained by volunteer art teachers and staff.
Local award-winning artist Huifong Ng is one volunteer teacher who has worked alongside the special needs students for a month to come up with most of the art pieces on display.
Apart from promoting students’ abilities through arts, the volunteer teachers also engaged them in visual art activities.
Aside from the exhibition, a simple bake sale is also being held at the venue, highlighting the students’ baking skills.
These events are being held to raise funds to support the operational cost of Pusat Ehsan.
