OUTGOING envoys Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Brunei Darussalam Saleh Mohammed Al-Nesef and United States Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Craig Boyd Allen recounted fond memories of Brunei Darussalam during a farewell luncheon reception hosted by the Diplomatic Corps yesterday.
“I have attended several farewell receptions for our colleagues, but now it is my turn to say goodbye. I truly enjoyed my six years here in Brunei and I want to extend my appreciation to you all for the support,” said Saleh Mohammed Al-Nesef, who is also the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
“I am proud of the relationships that I have developed over the years with many Bruneians in the government and private sectors at all levels as well as the local community,” he added.
He announced that the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Fahad Mashary Al-Thafiri will continue the role as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps by virtue of precedence.
Meanwhile, Allen thanked His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the people of Brunei for their generosity and hospitality.
“My family and I enjoyed every single day in Brunei and we are very grateful to all Bruneians,” said Allen. He expressed gratitude to members of the Diplomatic Corps for their support.
The outgoing ambassador will pursue a new career in the US-China Business Council. He will leave Brunei on July 26.
