Minister of Defence II receives courtesy call

THE Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof received a courtesy call from the Commander-in-Chief of Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) Vice- Admiral Pham Hoai Nam on Monday.

During the call, both sides reaffirmed the friendly defence relations between the two countries and also discussed matters of common interest, including naval cooperation, training and other bilateral and multilateral avenues to further strengthen the defence relationship, a press statement said.

Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam also called on the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud. Also present during the courtesy call was Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad.

The Commander of the RBAF took the opportunity to express his appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of VPN on the goodwill visits made by VPN ships to Brunei which provide valuable opportunities for both navies to build upon their professional relations and share knowledge and experiences.

Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam and delegation were in Brunei Darussalam from June 24-25.
