SCOUTS Team 3025 (Group A) from Sungai Tali Primary School Lumut II won the Cubs Scouts category, while Scouts Team 3025 (Group B) from the same school were the runner-up at the Belait District Scouts Association (BDSA) ‘Cultural Night Competition’.
The event, in celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 72nd birthday, was held on July 23 night at Tudong Saji, Kuala Belait.
Scouts Team 3027 from Sungai Liang Primary School took third place.
Scouts Team 3015 from Perdana Wazir Secondary School finished first in the Scouts/Venture Scouts category, while Scouts Team 3018 from Anthony Abell College was placed second. Tied in third spot were Scouts Team 3001 from Mukim Seria and Scouts Team 3040 from Mukim Sungai Liang, while Scouts Team 3011 from St Angela’s School took home the consolation prize.
The event was held to highlight and explore the talents of the BDSA scout members, as well as to prepare for the first ASEAN Rover Moot, scheduled to be held from December 12 – 17 by the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD).
The competition was divided into two categories: Cub Scouts and Scouts/Venture Scouts.
Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board Arifin bin Haji Bujang as the guest of honour presented prizes to the winners.
Also in attendance were Scouts Instructor Haji Othman bin Durani; Scout Commissioner for the Junior and Venture Scout Section Haji Burhanuddin bin Haji Mohd Daud; International Commissioner Abdul Manan bin Haji Abdul Latip; and Captain (Rtd) Haji Narawi bin Haji Omar Ali.
