A FIVE-MEMBER delegation comprising representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), strategic partners and officers from the Reintegration Section of the Prisons Department left for Kuala Lumpur (KL) on September 1 to participate in the Asian Pacific Conference of Correctional Administrators (APCCA) 2018.
This is the first time that NGOs from Brunei Darussalam have been invited to participate in the conference, which takes place in Melaka this year.
While in Melaka, the delegation will visit a halfway house of the Malaysia Prisons Department as part of their community-based programme dubbed Rumah Perantaraan Jabatan Penjara Malaysia.
The delegation will also hold a sharing session with stakeholders involved in the programme.
The visit is aimed at enhancing the relations between the officials of the reintegration programmes of both countries.
Visiting Justice appointed by the Prisons Department Haji Mustapa bin Haji Masri led the delegation, with members of the Brunei Council on Social Welfare.
Sending the delegation members off at the Brunei International Airport were officers from the Prisons Department.
