HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Government presented donations to 280 flash flood victims during a ceremony at the Serambangun Multipurpose Hall, Tutong yesterday.
The continuous downpour in February caused flash floods in several low-lying areas in the country, affecting 15 villages in the Tutong District.
A total of BND140,000 was distributed among the victims.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin presented the donations.
Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Haji Umarali bin Esung and Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, representative of the Tutong District Officer Haji Adnan bin Haji Adam, Acting Director of the Community Development Department (JAPEM) Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir, senior officials from the MCYS and JAPEM, mukim penghulu and village heads from the affected areas were also present.
