ENTREPRENEURS in this country can now get the Halal certification and Halal permit within 45 days.
The Brunei Islamic Religious Council together with the Halal Food Control Division of the Syariah Affairs Department in their initiative to improve the efficiency of service to customers will approve Halal certificate and Halal permit within 45 calendar days of each application, the Ministry of Religious Affairs said yesterday.
This commitment is a positive response from the Halal Food Control Division of the Syariah Affairs Department and Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) after many complaints received about the slow process to acquire Halal certificates and Halal permits, which is estimated to take about two months to two years.
The ministry added overall, the workflow process namely Clients Charter (TPOR) to obtain the Halal certificate and Halal permit has been successfully improved and enhanced, which include improvements to the procedure for acceptance guideline of the completed form, the exam for Halal supervisor, full cooperation confession from the company owner or premises/manager/representative/employee during the audit process and the adequacy, research and approval process, payment process and issuance of Halal certificate and Halal permit.
This step is to give convenience and confidence to entrepreneurs in the field of food beverages.
At the same time, it supports the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s initiative to promote the economic development of the country, including the Ease of Doing Business in Brunei Darussalam.
