DST National Veteran Football League teams who were in contention of qualifying to the second round of the President Cup this season have urged the Veteran Football Association (VFA) to take action against MPK PB and Miisa United after the pair’s heavy defeats ended their chances.
Despite sitting in second spot with the comfort of a supposedly superior goal difference, Mix FT were knocked off the final qualifying berth after Rimba Star somehow overturned a 10-goal swing needed to advance after masterminding a 15-2 victory over MPK PB.
AKSE Bersatu recorded the biggest victory in the competition after trouncing Miisa United 17-0 which prevented group rivals PSJD, who were at that time yet to play their final game, at least a fighting chance of catching up.
While it was not determined whether a formal complaint had been made, VFA Secretary General Jabar Ithnin (PHOTO BELOW) received suggestions that the losing teams should be investigated.
Jabar added that the management committee decided “they are not in a position to take disciplinary action”.
Jabar, who is also tournament director, said it would be better for the teams handle the matter in private.
Jabar added that the teams must accept the results.
Jabar also sought cooperation from relevant parties in welcoming new referees.
While Jabar admitted refereeing at times might not be satisfactory, he pointed out that errors happened worldwide, citing the refereeing blunder in Peru’s winner that cost Brazil’s place in the Copa America recently.
