IN AN effort to raise awareness and provide assistance to underprivileged families during the holy month of Ramadhan, the local media launched a two-day charity drive in Kampong Mulaut and Lumapas yesterday.
The ‘Brunei Prihatin Media Project’ is a local media initiative involving reporters, photographers and videographers from Brunei Press, Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB), Information Department and Brunei Times.
As part of the drive, a total of 15 media members donated food items, clothing as well as money to two families in need.
Among the items that were donated included several sacks of rice, oil, instant noodles, canned foods, drinks, toys and clothes.
The list of underprivileged families was prepared with the cooperation and assistance of the Community Development Department (JAPEM) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
“This is a project which we hope will make us better individuals and play an integral role in community development by raising awareness and assisting those who need help the most, especially during this holy month,” said a member of the local media.
