THE topic of yesterday’s pre-dawn talk at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque was Kecemerlangan Diri (Self-Excellence).
The talk was delivered by Assistant Prison Counsellor at the Prisons Department and an accredited Da’ie at the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) Ustaz Fariszal bin Ali, who explained Islam’s unique perspective on worldly and spiritual excellence.
“Worldly excellence signifies excellence in the hereafter, and in order to excel, one must become a knowledgeable Muslim,” he said. Among those attending were Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri
Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang.
The talk was part of the weekly Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat programme, jointly organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office, to encourage more congregants for the mass Subuh prayer.
