SEVERAL members from IMPACT group under the Young Executive Programme (YEP) First Cohort through its Gen-Link Project helped senior citizens from the Tutong Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PKWE Tutong) launched their sweet potato porridge during a launching and public distribution ceremony at the PKWE Tutong building yesterday.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Umarali bin Esung was the guest of honour.
Some 450 bags of sweet potato porridge by PKWE Tutong were distributed in several places yesterday, including among PKWE Tutong members at its PKWE Tutong building, health centre and road commuters.
Prior to the launching and public distribution ceremony, the group organised a workshop for the senior elders.
The IMPACT group comprises young government officers, mostly in their position for less than three years.
The Gen-Link Project seeks to bring closer the generation gap between senior citizens and young government officers in the country.
The group said that PKWE Tutong is an active organisation that has a lot of potential, selling commercial products at the centre as well as through the social networking app Instagram.
One of its latest products is the sweet potato porridge. Besides its succulent and original taste, one of the distinctive uniqueness about the porridge is their attractive colours.
The IMPACT group, through their marketing experience and business know-how, wished to work together with PKWE Tutong to introduce the sweet potato porridge to the public.
The project was also hoped to instil volunteerism and increase the level of care and concern for senior citizens in the country, in line with the objective of the International Day of Older Persons celebrated every October.
