THE Ministry of Communications is currently working towards improving Brunei Darussalam’s public transport system through regulated and efficient bus and taxi services. This project is targeted to be implemented by the third quarter of this year for taxis and by mid-2017 for buses. The existing bus service operation and bus route network will be revamped to increase reliability and connectivity as well as better accessibility of bus services serving important places such as schools, hotels, offices, health clinics and so on.
Part of this project scope involves improving the overall public bus system image not only through more efficient and reliable services but also through rebranding. Therefore, the Ministry of Communications, through the Land Transport Department is now in the final stage of evaluating the best public bus design and colour from submissions received.
A total of 112 entries were received from a competition opened to the public to create public bus colours and designs from April 2 to May 2. As a result, 10 proposed designs and colours have been shortlisted as shown below.
Voting for the above designs will be opened for two weeks commencing Monday, June 20 and will close on Sunday, July 3. Members of the public are invited to cast their votes by accessing http://ltd.gov.bn/SitePages/VOTE_BUS_DESIGN.aspx which will be circulated via WhatsApp on June 20, 2016. The link can also be accessed at the Ministry of Communications’ website at www.mincom.gov.bn and also the Land Transport Department website at www.jpd.gov.bn.

The Ministry of Communications, through the Land Transport Department, reserves the right to modify the winning design accordingly to suit technical and other related aspects.
