A CEREMONY to launch the establishment of the Youth and Muslimah groups of Kampong Lumapas Mosque was held at the mosque on Sunday.
Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Haji Sham bin Haji Amin was the guest of honour.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and reading of Al-Quran with interpretation by Mohammad Waiz bin Tajuddin.
The event continued with a welcoming speech by Kampong Lumapas Mosque Youth Group Head Abdul Hannan bin Rosnan who highlighted the social problems that many youth face in this increasingly globalised era.
“Youth are a valuable asset that should be taken care of, as they will become the future leaders of the country,” he said.
Known as Ashabul Akhyar, which means ‘A generation that likes to do good’, the youth group has brought together 68 registered male and female youth members.
Meanwhile, Head of the Muslimah Group Hajah Rahmah @ Hajah Rogayah binti Ali in her speech said that the members have already conducted several religious activities, and will participate in more guidance programmes and classes throughout the year.
The guest of honour also delivered a speech, highlighting the role of the mosque as a centre for community development in enhancing the strength and integrity of Muslims.
He said, “I believe the collaboration of the mosque youth and Muslimah groups will assist the mosque’s Takmir Committee members and mosque officers to enhance and promote the various programmes and activities being held, be it weekly, periodical or seasonal programmes.”
After the launching ceremony, letters of appointment were presented to the respective heads of the Ashabul Akhyar Youth group and Muslimah group of Kampong Lumapas Mosque.
