FOLLOWING the success of the ‘Informed Community’ programme for the Kampong Sungai Liang area last September, the Information Department extended the project to the surrounding areas of Mukim Bukit Sawat and Kampong Merangking in the Belait District.
An opening ceremony was held yesterday at the Kampong Sungai Mau Community Hall, where Acting Penghulu of Mukim Labi cum Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Hanapi bin Mohd Siput was welcomed as the guest of honour by Information Department Belait branch Head Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin.
Deputy Chairman of the Village Consultative Council (MPK) of Bukit Sawat Haji Junaidi bin Teradi and Acting Village Head of Kampong Merangking Raimey bin Abdullah were also present.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Imam of Al-Mashor Mosque Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Abas.
This was followed with briefings by Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar and Mohammad Zainul bin Haji Daud, an officer at the Adat Istiadat Negara Department, for the 50 participating residents of Mukim Bukit Sawat and Kampong Merangking.
Participants later travelled to the Brunei-Muara District for a tour of the Knowledge Hub Centre (KHub) and the iCentre at Anggerek Desa. They also attended a briefing by DARe (Darussalam Enterprise).
The group is scheduled today to visit Radio Television Brunei (RTB), Kingston Beverage & Creamery Sdn Bhd, the Information Department, the Malay Technology Museum and the Brunei Darussalam Maritime Museum, before heading back to the Belait District.
