NAZMIRA Scarf was officially launched with its first collection themed ‘Bloom Collection 2019’ during a ceremony at Rimba Garden Central yesterday.

The event opened with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa by Imam Haji Muslim bin Haji Abdul Razak.

Nazmira Scarf founder Rizhwana Nazeemah binti Nazeer Ahmad noted that the launch marked the beginning of her very own journey, and that she takes pride in being able to host it with her invited guests.

Nazmira is a sister company to Nazmi Textile Mall, one of the biggest textile malls in Brunei Darussalam.

Growing up, Rizhwana was exposed to beautiful fabrics and prints, sparking her interest in designing her own.

“The idea came to me as I was trying something new with my mother’s scarf, tying it in a fancy turban. It was in that moment that I was inspired to create my very own ‘luxury scarf brand.’”

On scarf designing, she noted that the richness of the meaning in each flower is what inspired her. At the same time, the difficult growth a flower has to go through to bloom represents the growth of femininity, womanhood and independence – encapsulating what she feels about her own process of growing and independence.

For the Bloom Collection 2019, Rizhwana chose to print all designs on a silk twill fabric using the screen printing process, which is a kind of weave in a fabric that produces a diagonal effect in the finished cloth, hence creating a more luxurious feel.

Her upbringing in Brunei and the special flowers that are personal to her inspired the design of her collection. One design incorporates the patterns of the Air Muleh because it is what ties us all to be Bruneians, and although the pattern itself may be a deconstructed version, it was the essence of it that sparked each design.

Nazmira is not only a retail company; it will provide other services with its tailoring and bespoke services available in the future.

“We will be a fashion house, where we design, make and sell our very own products. We have big goals we want to achieve, one of it is venturing out to Malaysia, Indonesia and all the other Southeast Asian countries.”

Nazmira scarves are available at all Nazmi Textile’s outlets.
