DULI Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (Maktab Duli) welcomed 448 new pre-university students with an orientation programme held at the college’s auditorium yesterday.
This year, 205 male and 243 female students are enrolled to further their studies at the institution for the 2019/2020 academic year.
The orientation programme is scheduled for three days, serving as a rite of passage for students who have graduated from their secondary education and to give them the best possible start to their university studies, as well as to provide them a taste of the social and academic life at the sixth form college.
The ceremony on the first day of the orientation was attended by parents. It began with the singing of the national anthem and alma mater songs, followed by the reading of verses from Al-Quran and Doa Kesyukuran.
In her speech at the ceremony, the college’s Acting Principal Hajah Monaliza binti Haji Abdul Halim congratulated the students for successfully becoming part of the college and expressed her hope for the parents’ cooperation to constantly monitor the progress of their children’s education in order to help them achieve their dreams.
As part of the orientation, the new students were taken on a tour of the college and were briefed by the college’s various units and sections on their policies, as well as the various resources and services available at Maktab Duli.
Sayyidina Ali Secondary School

AN ADMISSION ceremony was held at Sayyidina Ali Secondary School (SMSA) to welcome 203 new Sixth Form students for the 2019-2020 academic year yesterday.
Head of Cluster Six Asmah binti Tengah, Officer for Schools (Cluster Six) Annie Sindai and Principal of SMSA Steven Shim Sheau Huei welcomed the new intake.
Chairman of the school’s Parent- Teacher Association (PTA) Nordin bin Haji Zainal, Head of Counselling and Career Unit at the Department of Schools Mohd Hatta bin Haji Suhaili and Senior Education Officer (Cluster Six) of the Department of Schools Haji Mohd Kadri bin Haji Yusof were also present.
The school principal commended the students for choosing to further their education by taking their ‘A’ Levels.
“We believe in the choice that you have made, and we will not only congratulate, but also support your choice in continuing your academic journey to a brighter future, starting here at SMSA,” he said.
He added that 2018 had been a noteworthy year for SMSA, with a 70 per cent attainment of three ‘A’ Level passes and an impressive 89.29 per cent of two ‘A’ Level passes.
The event continued with a briefing on the school’s rules and regulations by Student Affairs Section, which was followed with an oath-taking ceremony for the new students.
Later in the afternoon, an orientation session was held with several ice-breaking activities.
Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre

SENGKURONG Sixth Form Centre (PTE Sengkurong) welcomed around 350 students for its 2019 academic session with an orientation ceremony yesterday.
The Principal of PTE Sengkurong shared the successful rate of the students in last year’s GCE ‘A’ and ‘AS’ Level while at the same time advised the new intake to be more focussed in their studies and to adapt to their new learning environment. The orientation programme will be carried out for three days until from February 27.
During the orientation, the new students will undergo various activities and games to enrich themselves with academic experiences, school background, knowing their peers-mate. They were also briefed on relevant matters pertaining to their roles in the school.
