HAJI Muhammad Khairul Hafizuddin bin Haji Shamsuddin from the Survey Department emerged as the winner in the male category of the Al-Quran reading competition for officers and staff of the Ministry of Development while Ratinah binti Hidup, who is also from the Survey Department, won the female category.
Chief guest Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar presented the prizes to the winners.
Sixteen participants took part in the preliminary round on April 1. Out of the total, six qualified into the finals.
The Al-Quran reading competition was organised by the Administration and Finance Department as well as the Mechanical and Electrical Services Department of the Public Works Department (JKR) at JKR headquarters in Old Airport, Berakas yesterday in conjunction with Israk Mikraj celebration.
The event aimed to encourage officers and staff to learn reading Al-Quran and make it a daily practice to gain blessing from Allah the Almighty.
The event also aimed to foster closer ties among officers and staff. The ceremony also saw a religious talk by the Director of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah Studies Centre of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr H Harapandi Dahri.
