A TOTAL of 155 students of Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (Maktab Sains) who achieved outstanding results in the BC-GCE ‘A’ Level examinations 2018 were feted in an awards and certificates presentation ceremony at the college’s auditorium yesterday.
Director of Personnel at the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) cum guest of honour Colonel (U) Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin presented the awards and certificates to the students.
Acting Principal Susilawati binti Dato Paduka Haji Muhammad shared that 86.11 per cent of its students achieved three ‘A’ levels and above for the 2018 exams, an improvement of 4.07 per cent compared to the results for 2017, while 96.11 per cent obtained at least two ‘A’ levels and above, an improvement of 5.33 per cent from the prior year.
“Despite the college not achieving its target of 100 per cent attainment of at least two ‘A’ levels, we can be proud of our results as the college has received recognition for achieving the national target during the School Leadership Convention 2019 – proving the cooperation and commitment of the school,” she said.
She also highlighted the importance of the young generation as the country’s assets, in terms of contributing and improving the nation’s productivity and adapting to the current digital era. She thanked the school’s administrative staff and teachers as well as the parents and guardians for their contributions in helping the school and the students achieve these results.
The ceremony also saw 32 students receiving ‘Honourable Mentions’ for obtaining at least three ‘A’ grades in the exams.
