SOME 13 members of Brunei’s advance medical team left the Sultanate yesterday for the holy city of Makkah to begin preparations for the upcoming Haj for Bruneian pilgrims.
Leading the medical team, which consists five Haj administration officers and eight medical officers, was Head Administration Officer Haji Abdullah bin Haji Mohammad.
Also at the Brunei International Airport yesterday were the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof; Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the MoRA, Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah (Administrative and Financial Affairs) and Haji Harun bin Haji Junid; Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Health (MoH), Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle (Policy) and Dr Hajah Maslina binti Haji Mohsin (Professional); as well as officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Health.
In an interview with the Bulletin, the head of delegation explained that early preparations have been made in terms of negotiations with the local authorities to ensure a smooth journey for the medical team as well as the incoming Haj pilgrims from Brunei.
Particular focus was placed on the e-Hajj program, where input of all important documents and data must be in order so as to streamline the process during the Haj Season.
The first and second batch of Bruneian pilgrims who will depart for the Holy Land on August 18 and 19 will be accompanied by the rest of the Haj administration officers and medical officers.
