THE Law Enforcement Section of the Department of Immigration and National Registration in Kuala Belait recently conducted an inspection codenamed, ‘Operasi Kesan JIPK 52/2016’, on a housing construction project in the Lumut area.
Led by the Head Immigration Officer, law enforcement personnel questioned 39 foreign workers, while one was found hiding inside a room in one of the house units. He was discovered to be holding a social visit pass visit of 30 days.
After the inquiry, 17 foreign workers were detained and brought to the Law Enforcement Office for further questioning.
Meanwhile, the Law Enforcement Section also conducted an operation, led by the senior immigration officer, which focused on three foreign workers who offered house-to-house carpet-cleaning services in STKRJ Kg Mumong, Belait.
An inspection of their documents revealed that one of them works as a delivery man, while another is currently in the country on a social visit pass. The third man is believed to be responsible for their activities. The three men were asked to report themselves to the Law Enforcement Office, for further investigation.
