Brunei Darussalam continued its streak of no new COVID-19 cases for 38 days yesterday, keeping the tally of cases at 141.
Some 279 individuals are undergoing mandatory self-isolation at government monitoring centres. They comprise Bruneian students as well as family members of foreign nationals residing in the country.
To date, 2,401 individuals have completed the mandatory self-isolation at monitoring centres.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar provided the information at the daily press conference yesterday.
The minister said, “Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah the Almighty, there is no new COVID-19 case in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam remains at 141 while the number of recovered cases is 138.”
Only one case is still being treated at the National Isolation Centre. The case is in a critical condition and requires heart-lung machine (ECMO) as well as respiratory assistance.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said 67 individuals are undergoing quarantine in accordance to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) while 2,756 individuals completed their stint and are in stable condition.
Some 434 samples were tested for SARS-CoV-2 virus bringing the number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 24,833.

In its breakdown of COVID-19 cases in the country, healthinfo.gov.bn revealed that there were 110 cases in the Brunei-Muara District, 25 in the Belait District and six in the Tutong District.
