The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday foiled a smuggling attempt after 60 cartons of alcoholic beverages were discovered inside a vehicle parked at Simpang 211, Kampong Batang Tuau in Mukim Bangar, Temburong District.
According to Acting Commanding Officer of Temburong Police District ASP Pengiran Anak Haji Azanuddin Aman Shah bin Pengiran Anak Ismail Al-Haj, the discovery of the beverages came following a complaint filed by members of a neighbourhood watch of a suspicious car with a local licence plate.
A close inspection of the vehicle revealed 60 cartons of alcohol beverages wrapped in plastic packaging, he added.
The vehicle and contraband were brought to the Bangar Police Station for investigation, and the case was handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further action.
The RBPF in collaboration with other enforcement agencies said they will continue their efforts in eradicating trans-boundary crimes.
